RAPPAHANNOCK’S Supervisors endorsed last Thursday a “scenic river” study for portions of the Thornton and Rappahannock Stivers in the county, but unenthusiastically. First, a motion not to have the study at all had to be voted down by a 3-2 vote, and the vote to ask the State Outdoor Recreation Commission do the study only passed by the same margin.
Chairman Pete Luke said the Commission has asked the proper county officials to endorse studies of the Rappahannock, Rapidan and Thornton Rivers, and Goose Creek, which runs through Fauquier and Loudoun Counties. He said they wanted an action from the Supervisors saying there was no objection to conducting the study, which would be merely to “identify” scenic qualities.
