Red Cross report
A fund campaign report from Rappahannock to the American National Red Cross Fauquier Chapter of which Rappahannock is a part discloses 58 members responded to letters sent out in February to bring in $217. Three-hundred individual members reached through a door-to-door canvass totaled $621. Total membership in Rappahannock is 354.
Mrs. Mary Nordan and Mrs. Mary Cleverley of Flint Hill headed the canvass with nine volunteers assisting, including Mrs. Lillian Aylor, Mrs. Rachel Aylor, Mrs. Mary Lee Frye, Mrs. Roberta Jackson, -Miss Nancy Jones, Mrs. Hazel Longmire, Mrs. Joy Luke, Mrs. Virginia Pennington, and Mrs. Rita Tupper. All gave long hours to support the project. □
Bridge party
Mrs. Mary Quaintance entertained the Sperryville Bridge Club and additional guests at her home near Sperryville on Friday evening. Playing were Mrs. T.J. Pillar, Mrs. Elmo Flynt, Mrs. R.E. Thompsen, Mrs. R.E. Wood, Mrs. W.H. Cordle, Mrs. C.E. Johnson, Jr., Mrs. Brown Miller, Mrs. Frank Tabler, Mrs. Hugh Chrisman joined by Mrs. B.M. Miller and Mrs. Harry L. Smith of Washington and Mrs. Sean Kilpatrick of Woodville. Mrs. Chrisman was high scorer for the guests and Mrs. Thompsen was high scorer for the club. Other winners were Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Tabler and Mrs. Smith.□
