A NATIVE of a country with sixty thousand lakes, Ari Rintala, made his first attempt at water skiing Monday on an artificial lake in Virginia. Ari is from Finland and is a Lions International Exchange Youth. He visited Lake of the Woods Monday in nearby Orange County and tried out his water skis. Water sports are not alien to him for he is an avid sailor. He built and has raced his own 15-foot sailboat, taking a championship in a division for a craft the size of his.
Ari is 17, and one of twenty youths from Finland visiting in Virginia. His father is a bank manager, his mother a retired £ nurse. He has one brother. He raised funds for his trip here by developing and printing film for various people in his darkroom which he built with his father.
