one of the oldest buildings in Rappahannock. The mountains, so typical of the county, were abackground for the Toll House, with an apple tree placed in the front yard.
After Mrs. Manwaring had all the ideas arranged and drawn it to scale, the picture was transfered to needlepoint canvas. Then the busy fingers of several members started the task of creating the needlepoint design.
MRS. CORINNE DelGrosso and Mrs. Flo Duvall both of Flint Hill pictured with their needlepoint design were the first to complete their works of art. Several ladies in the county are still working on their needlepoint square.
Mrs. Llewellyn S. Allison, Extension Agent, announced the two pieces of needlework will be on display Monday, July 21 at the Rappahannock County Extension Office. After this date one of the pieces will be placed on display in the Library here for the Bicentennial. The other piece will be sent to Blacksburg where it will be assembled in the 9' by 12’ tapestry by the Virginia Extension Homemakers Council.
A brief account of the historical importance of the picture will be sent with the needlepoint design. Mrs. Allison also thanked each of the ladies on the Committee for giving of their time and talents.,
