BOAT OWNERS — IMPORTANT NOTICE
MOORING BUOYS
Mooring buoys placed in a navigable waterway of the United States which remain in place for an extended period of time are regarded as falling under the purview of Section 10 of the River & Harbor Act of 3 March 1899 and will require a permit or a Letter of Permission from the Corps of Engineers.
Alt buoys not authorized by the Corps of Engineers are to be removed from the waterways within thirty (30) days of the date appearing on this notice. Application may then be made to this office for a permit or a Letter of Permission. Extensive patrols will be initiated by this office to locate and identify these unauthorized buoys. A violation notice will be posted on the buoy or the boat moored to the buoy. If this violation notice is ignored, appropriate legal and/or administrative action will be taken.
