THE Rappahannock Defense Committee has urged the Virginia Commission of Outdoor Recreation to consider designating only a part of the Rapidan River as a State Scenic River.

Along with the Rappahannock River, the COR is currently studying a 35-mile stretch of the Rapidan, from the town of Rapidan to the river’s confluence with the Rappahannock, for possible designation as Scenic Rivers. In a letter to COR Director Rob Blackmore, the Committee urged that COR consider leaving off a 7-1/2 mile section of the Rapidan, from the town of Rapidan to the Virginia 522 bridge.
