HE SERVED two years in the Navy aboard the USS Nashville. Before beginning his medical training he spent more than two years as a full time missionary for the Mormon Church. He is a native of Rappahannock County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Manwaring of Woodville.
Mrs. Manwaring is the former Madeline Smith of Ontario, Cal. She also attended Brigham Young University where she met and married her husband. In 1970 she received a master’s degree from the Department of Government and Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia. The Manwarings have two sons, Nathan, 5 and Andrew, 2.
