also appealed. Since the SCC rejected the request to stay Vepco’s construction of the powerlines until the Supreme Court acts, the Rappahannock League has also appealed that ruling to the Supreme Court.

Clarence Kipps, attorney for the Culpeper League, does not expect any action from the Supreme Court for a year. The SCC will not send the record of its powerline decision until September 15; then the attorneys have 90 days to file briefs. It will probably be six months after that before the first hearing will be held, said Kipps.

FAUQUIER’S attorneys have not yet requested a restraining order against construction of the powerlines. Attorney L. Lee Bean is waiting until Fauquier Circuit Court Judge Rayner V. Snead rules on Vepco’s four-year-old suit against the county. The county argues that Judge Snead should delay a ruling on the powerlines in Fauquier until after the Supreme Court acts.
