CATTLE—Southeastern feeder cattle prices declined for the second week in a row during the week ended July 11. Pressure of increased marketings was blamed for the drop in prices. Prices also continued downward for slaughter cattle.
Feeder receipts totaled 35,300 head and accounted for 51 per cent of the weekly receipts. This compares with 25,300 head and 54 per cent of the holiday-shortened period last week.
Compared with the previous week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 lower, steer calves ranged $1 to $2 lower, while heifer calves brought steady to $1 lower prices, with instances of $2 lower. Florida was the exception to the general trend and ranged

hold a luncheon
The Rappahannock Retired Teachers’ Association held a luncheon meeting Friday, July 11, at the home of Mrs. Frances Lyne near Washington. This was a special meeting in honor of Miss Elsie Dodson, who retired from the Rappahannock Public School System and of Mrs. Pauline Bruce who retired from the Fauquier County System.
