REPRESENTATIVES of the criminal justice system and area businesses in ten counties and one city will participate in an “organized crime awareness program” in Front Royal on Thursday, August 19, at the Quality Inn starting at 9 a.m. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The program is one in a series the Virginia State Crime Commission is conducting throughout the Commonwealth to “create an awareness among the citizens of many of the problems created by or-, ganized crime and to suggest methods to cope with these problems.”
Delegate A. L. Philpott of Bassett, chairman of the Crime Commission’s Subcommittee on Law Enforcement, said that this will be the seventh in a series of awareness programs the Commission has conducted. “We have had excellent response to these seminars and they have produced worthwhile results,” he said.
Ralph F. Salerno, an internationally recognized authority on organized crime, and Dr. Brandt Allen, a specialist on management control and computer based systems, will be the featured speakers. They have participated in each of the other seminars the Commission has conducted. Delegate Raymond R. “Andy” Guest, Jr. of Front Royal, a member of the Commission, also will participate. He represents the 17th House District that includes Frederick, Clarke, Fauquier and Warren counties and the city of Winchester.
