CLAYBERT SMOOT appeared before the Board to register complaints on revelers at the Community Center in Washington. He claimed he couldn’t sleep at nights •because of the noise and the fighting. He added that persons attending functions there also parked, in the roadway, blocking traffic. He reported that he had complained to the sheriff’s department with no results. “I was told last Saturday by Deputy Sheriff Martin -Orfila that he can’t do anything about it.”
According to Smoot, he had been disturbed at least 50 times. “Nothing’s been done. Not a dad.. blamed thing. One deputy told me he didn’t want to go up there cause they might be armed with sawed-off shotguns.” ‘ ' Complaints with trouble spots is one area that the sheriff can deal with, interjected George Davis.
