Cricket Song and Cathy Hamilton on Beau Jangles. Second was an Old Dominion Hunt pair of Dr. Jerry Martin on Gladstone and Richard Thomas on Happy Jill. Farmington Hunt’s team of Cathy Calleo riding Bojangles and Toni Bredin on Tivoli was third.
Winner of the fast time competition was another Farmington team of Maggie Shriver on Poor Richard and Vivian Yamaguchi on Foxmoor. Rappahannock Hunt’s team of Judy Levy riding her Victory Way and Suzanne Bennett on Spanish Harbor was second, followed by a team from Casanova, Susan Green on Man’s Friend and Gus Forbush on Chandler.
Two pony races came next. Tim Pfafman rode Copper Pennie to win the race for younger riders on small ponies by ten lengths over Kim Aylor on Velvet. The Ben Venue race for older children on large ponies was a close contest among the three youngsters, with Ricky Hendricks driving Red Raven up the inside of the stretch to win by a head over John Cummings on Go-Sweet-Bar-Go. Rogers Smithwick was third on his Lil Bit. □
