A MORATORIUM on further subdivisions in Rappahannock County, until county citizens have time to decide where and what kind of growth they want, and how much, has been requested of the Board of Supervisors by the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection.
The Rappahannock Supervisors hold their April meeting this Thursday.
A letter sent to the Board under the signature of Philip Irwin, president of the RLEP, presents the following case for a temporary subdivision moratorium in the county:
“Representing its contributing membership of over 500 families, the Board of Directors of the RLEP, Inc. hereby petitions that an immediate moratorium be declared upon the acceptance or further consideration of any applications for the subdivision of Rappahannock County land until such time as the citizens of Rappahannock have had the ability and opportunity to decide where new growth may be best located and, if indeed any new growth is desirable, how much and over what time period it should be accommodated.
