Confidence In Teachers

Charlie Lewis agreed with Bomberger's contention that parents need to support teachers. “Sometimes, it seems like the parent has more confidence in the child than in the teacher,” said Lewis. He maintained that parents need to communicate confidence in the teacher’s ability to teach. "When the parents lose confidence in the teacher, the child loses confidence in the teacher and then the child might as well stay home,” Lewis concluded.

John Summers pointed to the lack of communication between parent and teacher as a contributing factor in problems with the school system. A large number of parents work outside the county and are unable to meet with teachers except for night conferences, two few of which are scheduled, according to Summers.
