Future problems listed included overcrowding and abuse, access for the elderly and the handicapped, litter control, the effect of Park expansion on the local tax base, control of fringe development, the effect of fire in the wilderness area on the town of Washington’s watershed, sale or exchange of current Park property and the effect of a large parking area in Front Royal on Route 211 traffic.
Response to the question on "should the Park be changed?" ranged from suggestions that the Park be more fully protected to suggestions that riding trails, overnight facilities and facilities for the elderly and handicapped be expanded.
One workshop group ranked better understanding and communication between the Park and adjoining landowners as the most important issue discussed and the second workshop group ranked gave fire fighting top priority.
