Loftis explained that National Park Service Regional Directoi Richard Stanton had given final approval to the environmental assessment on the trade of approximately 312 acres near Old Hollow and 93 acres in Warren County for 442 acres in Greene County and had thereby authorized the exchange. However, noted Loftis, local Park officials can still decide to stop the deal.
Loftis said that copies of the environmental assessment are available from Park authorities. He added that the record will stay open for at least 30 more days to receive public comment before a final decision is reached. According to Loftis, local Shenandoah Park officials can decide to halt the proposed trade, should they receive overwhelming opposition from the public.
