Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly held its fifth annual French Festival last week in celebration of the language and culture of France. Organized by the school’s Modern Languages Department, this year’s events extended over a three day period.
On Wednesday there was a translation competition involving students in Kindergarten through Grade 9. Divided into two teams, students competed in translating words, phrases, and long passages into French and English.
Thursday’s program included the presentation of slides, skits, and French songs. The slides shown were

Hughes River and Garth Run in Madison County and South River and Swift River in Greene County will be stocked with trout during the week of June 12 through 16. During the June stocking, streams will not be closed to fishing but will remain open during the operations.
