The proposal to trade 405 acres of Shenandoah National Park land in Rappahannock County for 442 acres of private property in Greene County has been scrapped because of citizen opposition—not because of any questions as to the legality of the trade, according to Park Superintendent Robert Jacobsen.
“I feel very strongly that the lawyers will conolude there was nothing wrong with the proposal,” said Jacobsen in an interview at Park headquarters on July 5.
