We Feel Good
To the editor:
We feel good.
Not just because Park land in Rappahannock County djd not pass into private hands. We feel good mostly because we realize that the exchange of Park lands was prevented largely through a strong and committed community effort in Rappahannock County. Without Daphne McCullough, of the Rappahannock News, we believe our case would have been lost before we knew we had one.
We also had some effective and timely help from outside' the County. We’d like particularly to express our appreciation to Representative J. Kenneth Robinson and his staff assistant, John Magill, for arranging an extension of time for public input and for their continuing interest and help toward clarifying the legal situation. Destry Jarvis, of the National Parks and Conservation Association, pointed out to us that the proposed land swap violated Federal law as written in 1977. Cleve Pinnix and Lee McElvain, of the staff of the House Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs, explained to us the intent of the
