On Monday, September 11. the Rappahannock School Board held a special executive meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the courthouse. With Superintendent William Bloome excluded from the closed session, the School Board met for approximately two hours with attorney Phillip C. Stone, a member of the Harrisburg firm of Wharton. Aldhizer and Weaver.
According to Board Chairman Beverly Massie, the School Board members discussed what they are allowed by law to do. In addition, said Mrs. Massie, Stone explained the grievance procedure that applies to School Board employees. She acknowledged that Stone's firm was a recognized expert in School Board law. having argued cases successfully before the State Supreme Court. She also noted that Stone currently acts as legal advisor to seven different School Boards.
