At the Rappahannock Lions Club tneeting held Wednesday, September 13, at Hampton Inn, president Howard Holschuh inducted two new members, Stanley Thompson of Sperryville and David Konic of Castleton. into the club. In August. Dr. Jeff Bloomer of Sperryville and Albert Doub of Castleton joined.
Despite the withdrawal of Tom Eddins. former ASCS Director who recently moved to Greene County, the Rappahannock club has achieved its goal of a ten per cent membership gain only two months into the Lion year.
Also at the September 13 meeting, the county Lions completed planning for their annual apple butter sale, directed by sales chairman lan Pryde. The sales are scheduled for the weekends of October 21 and 22 and October 28 and 29 at the stand in front of the school bus garage on Route 211.
Raymond Johnson, chairman of apple butter making, has set October 3 and 24 for cooking and bottling at the Criglersville Coop.
Lion Paul Nichols, chairman of fruit cake sales, has received a shipment of the famous Benson fruit cakes. They will be available from club members at $4.75 for three pounds until Christmas or until the cakes are gone—whatever comes first.
