Board’s already got the money for their first priority, why keep it a priority?
What’s equally as hard to understand is why two Board members had nothing they felt was necessary as a capital outlay project. Two and a half years ago, a committee, chaired by the current School Board chairman investigated the high school and found certain conditions there grossly inadequate.
Nothing’s been done since—no rooms added, no alterations made in the cafeteria, office cm- bathrooms—yet two members of the Board had no priority capital outlay projects in mind. One member’s only concern was the gas storage tanks. While two others gave improvement in conditions at the high school as one of their priorities. The gas tanks are already taken care of in this year’s budget. The State Water Control Board will give the School Board no option but to correct inadequacies in the school sewage systems. So why not make improvement of conditions at the county’s TWO public schools top priority for capital outlay?
