At a meeting held Thursday, September 14, the Rappahannock Board of Zoning Appeals issued a special use permit to Eddie Sutphin to operate a used car lot on Route 211 at the old drive-in theater site.
In an attempt to retain some type of control over the operation, BZA members insisted upon adding conditions to the permit and emphasized that the permit could be revoked if these conditions weren't met.
Zoning Administrator Evan McNear reported that the 3.3 acres belonging to Sutphin were currently zoned commercial. He added that the property was now being used to store farm machinery.
"It looks terrible," commented BZA member Hal Forward.
