As the deer season ends in some counties but continues in others, Shenandoah National Park Superintendent Robert Jacobsen stressed the need for hunters to remain aware that any hunting or killing of wildlife within park boundaries is strictly prohibited. Despite the end of deer and other game species in some areas bordering the park, varied patrol activities by Park Rangers will continue.
Jacobsen noted that weapons, if carried in a vehicle in the park, must be unloaded and cased. Anyone having information concerning the killing of park wildlife is encouraged to call park headquarters at 9992243. Those apprehended will face hunting and firearms charges that may result in fines, jail sentences and the loss of weapons and vehicles.
