The U.S. Department of Commerce's Weather Bureau needs an observer in the Washington area who lives within two miles of town.
In order to provide a complete study of local weather conditions throughout the country, the U.S. Weather Bureau maintains a network of some 6.000 cooperative weather reporting stations. Reports forwarded monthly to Weather Bureau stations from cooperative weather observers aid in developing programs toward soil conservation and commercial, civic and agricultural enterprises.
The Weather Bureau installs and maintains the equipment necessary for these stations. The cooperative observer makes one reading each day for temperature and precipitation and mails monthly reports to a designated Weather Bureau Office.
