To the editor:
It is with gratitude and pride in our community that we read from the front page of the Culpeper newspaper, dated December 6, 1978, that S.W.I.F.T. (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications) will move its headquarters to Culpeper. But it is with utter dismay and bewilderment that we read , jfour statement regarding t|ie State Highway Department’s making funds available to construct a road to the new establishment.
For us who live on Route No. 615 in Rappahannock County and drive through mud and ruts filled with water every time it rains; or over a washboard surface in a cloud of dust when the sun shines, we question how funds can be available to accommodate a foreign nonprofit corporation but are lacking to improve facilities for "home-town” folks.
The history of Route No. 615 could be written in four words, “Too Little - Too Late.” Over a period of years, we have begged to have the road improved. Each time,
