exchange proposal. Congressman J. Kenneth Robinson introduced a bill into the last session of Congress that would freeze Shenandoah National Park boundaries as they currently stand. Since the bill was submitted too late for action last year. Robinson plans to reintroduce the legislation in yhe upcoming 1979 session.

4. Sperryvllle Sewer System

Survey work for placement of the lines that will serve Sperryville's long awaited sewer system was completed in October 1978. Maurice Biddle, chairman of the Rappahannock County Water and Sewer Authority, expects completion of final plans and specifications by mid-January llC’9 with approval from the federal Environmental Protection Agency and the Virginia State Water Control Board subsequently coming within 90 days.

Biddle anticipates putting construction for the lagoon system out on bids by April 15, 1979 and having the project completed with the sewer system in operation bv April 1980.

5. Washington’s Water

As 1978 draws to a close, the prognosis for Rappahannock County's only public water system doesn't look hopeful. Following an early fall drought, the town had to request customers to curtail all non-essential water uses as levels in the reservoir continued to drop.

Leazer Well Drilling Company was hired to dig a second well on the one-acre lot owned by the town but the Washington Town Council voted unanimously in November to abandon the new site after it produced
