as an alternative to incarceration in a state institution, DeBergh suggested that Pullen be confined in the Fauquier jail until a review of his case in May.
During that time, the probation officer recommended that the defendant receive counseling from the Fauquier Family Guidance Center’s alcohol abuse expert and attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings at the counselor’s discretion.
DeBergh said the probation officer in Madison had gone before the court there to present the same proposal. According to DeBergh, Madison’s circuit court judge agreed to concur if the recommendation for counseling and internment in Fauquier was adopted here.
Taking the stand, Pullen acknowledged that since his release from jail in March, he’d been charged with and found guilty of driving while intoxicated in Page County and received a $500 fine and six months jail sentence.
He'said he’d also been found guilty of the same charge in U. S. District Court in Rockingham and received a $250 fine and 90-day suspended sentence.
Pullen said he’d tried to get into two different alcohol treatment programs while in jail in Page County with no success. He told the court that he’d be willing to •participate Jit Fauquier’s counseling program, adding that hb wife could transport him to the family guidance
