Although administrators at area hospitals report that last weekend’s desperate transportation situation is easing, they will still gratefully accept any offers of assistance from volunteers with four-wheel drive vehicles.
The National Weather Service long-range forecast calls for a possibility of more snow this weekend, and hospital officials fear that more snow on top of what has already fallen will cause further difficulties in transporting patients and staff.

"The volunteers have been wonderful,” said Thelma Russell, an administrator at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal. “We can’t thank them enough - they kept us staffed. The response has been fantastic.”
Mrs. Russel} added that the hospital is keeping a list of names and telephone numbers of volunteers willing to help out in the event of more snow, and asked that anyone who would like to assist caR/(536-0300 or 636-0290.
Culpeper Memorial Hospital ^ “There has been a marvelous response here,” said CMH spokesman Charlotte Cannon.
