Recently, citizens throughout Virginia have been deluged with a media blitz on the part of the chemical industry proclaiming “ban the ban” - an effort to sink phosphate detergent ban legislation now under consideration by the Virginia Legislature.
The ad campaign represents a blatant whitewash of the tea} facts about the phosphate bah. The-ban will not increase costs to consumers. Residents of Maryland, New York, Michigan, Vermont, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana and the District of Columbia - states in which phosphate bans already exist can attest to that fact.
