Five minutes from the top, highway department plows in tandem roll by in the opposite lane. We reach the summit, Mr. Jenkins stops beneath an underpass to clean the windshield yet again and then swings a u-turn where the FauquierRappahannock territory ends. Already, the path cleared by the two plows is obliterated by the rapidly falling snow.
An hour later, Mr. Jenkins drops his passenger off at the maintenance lot and heads back to the mountain. “I guess I’ll be doing this all day, if you want another ride.”
