I listen to the news bulletins of schools closed and meetings cancelled. I feel spoiled because this year I don’t have to fight the hectic rush hour of the Beltway, and this year I can relax and eiyoy the magnificent view of the snow-covered mountain tops.
I only regret never having learned to ski.
Moving here from the city, I used to feel that I was missing something. But I don’t miss standing out in the blistering cold with frozen legs waiting for the Metro subway.
So, next time my son David asks me, “Mommy, why does it snow?” I’ll answer, “So mommies can stay home from work and play in it with their children!”
