Land use tax overview
Paxton Marshall, an economist with : the Virginia Extension Service of Va. Tech, • will speak to the county's Board of ; Supervisors next Monday evening, March 5, at 7 p.m. at the courthouse. Mr. Marshall will offer an overview of the land use-value taxation system in Virginia, as well as information about the new "open space" classification adopted last year by the General Assembly. According to County 1 Administrator John McCarthy, the meeting was scheduled to prepare the supervisors for the coming reassessment next year. The public is also invited to attend this general informational session.
Local AA marks 15th year
The Washington chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous celebrated its 15th anniversary on Feb. 22. The group meets each Thursday evening at 8:30 pjn. at Trinity Episcopal Church's parish hall. The group welcomes new members, and issues an open invitation for anyone to attend its weekly meetings. Since its founding, AA has been perhaps the single most successful organization dedicated to helping those suffering from an alcohol dependency, as well as those affected by the alcoholic.
