As to being under the Sperryville Post Office, Mrs. Orange said that means “I make all my reports to Sperryville, and I order all my supplies from there.”
Mrs. Orange says that between one-third and one-fourth of Woodville’s mail is going first through Sperryville. In Sperryville, new Postmaster Karen Zachok is finding that a large bin is being filled every day with mail for Woodville that should not have come to Sperryville at all. For a while they were putting a stamp on this mail that said, “please inform your correspondents of your correct address.” This irritated and confused postal patrons that felt they were not responsible for the incorrect address. Now Mrs. Orange and Ms Zachok have agreed to try to solve the problem within the Post Office Department. But solving it will take time.
The Zip Plus Four directories for Washington D. C. and Virginia printed from January 1987 through January 1990 all say “see Sperryville” under the listing for Woodville.
