Dr. Berkley Rish’s proposal to build a country club and golf course on U.S. 522 near Scrabble ran into a mixed reception at the Planning Commission’s public hearing last Wednesday night. In the end the planners tabled the special exception request for a month.

Bryan Johnson of Woodville favored the plan. “I’m an avid golfer who doesn’t get to play much because I have to drive 35 miles round trip,” he said. “I’m truly excited about the development as I understand it. I think it would be really good in the community. It would give employment, and substantial employment. It would be a source of revenue without having a huge impact on the school system. I
