In the national five digit zip code directory Wood ville doesn’t appear at all. Under 227 Culpeper, 22740 and 22749 are both listed as Sperryville.
However Postal Service’s on-line computerized directory has been corrected and now lists Wood ville as 22749.
Paul Cooper with the Post Office’s Address Information System in Richmond said that a correction was made in the computerized system when the problem was brought to the attention of his office on Jan. 4, 1990. Mr. Cooper said that the 1991 printed directories will reflect that change.
In the meantime, he suggested, Woodville post office patrons can possibly help prevent any more mail from being misdirected by listing “H C 64” in front of their box numbers on their addresses.
