the annual Bland Concert sponsored by the Rappahannock Lions’ Club.

In the instrumental category Erin Nilan, a seventh grader was placed first, RCHS senior Tucker Rogers won second, playing “Misty” by Eroll Gamer on the saxaphone, and Ayaka Kenke, a ninth grader at WCDS, won third playing “Tokyo Boogie” by an unknown composer on the piano.

In the vocal category WCDS junior Megan O’Bryon won first prize singing without accompaniment “On My Own” from Les Miserables by Schoberg. Lisa Pullen, a RCHS junior was awarded second for singing “Daddy’s Hands” by Holly Dunn. She was accompanied by Melinda Russell on piano. RCHS senior Sherry Jo Shaw was awarded third place for singing “The Power of Love” by Celine Dion. She was also accompanied by Mrs. Russell.

First place winners also won the right to advance to regional competition in March. The winners will also receive cash prizes at a Lions Club dinner in early march. First place finishers won $50; second place won $35, and third place won $25.
