and a full circular skirt with chapel length train. The low scoop back had a closure of tiny covered buttons of silk. To complete the look, the bride wore a picture hat of raw silk with a bow and French tuelle tails in back.
Denise carried a bouquet of white lilies accented with brightly colored, fragrant flowers.
Matron of honor was Diane Wood, sister of the bride, of Washington. She wore a formal gown of deep purple velvet and carried a bouquet of magenta lilies and purple statice.
Jullian Lily Wood, the bride’s niece, was flower girl. She wore dark green velvet with ecru lace trim and carried a basket of bright carnations, statice, freesia and (roses. On her hair was a matching wreath of flowers.
Best man was Paul Rogers, old brother of the groom and Bob Rogers, his younger brother, was usher.
Following the ceremony, the bride and groom were met in front of the church by friends Cathy and Peter Kreyling, who treated them to a ride through town in their horse cart. 1
A formal tea reception immediately after the ceremony was held at the Middle Street Gallery.
Later in the afternoon, a large informal barbecue was held at the CCLC Pavilion with live music provided by The Irish Breakdown.
The bride is a graduate of Rappahannock County High School and of Mary Washington College. She is the Art Supply Store Manger for the Art League of Alexandria.
The groom is a graduate of The University of Baltimore, and is employed by INACOM, of Herndon.
The couple will reside in Springfield after an autumn wedding trip to Delaware.
