the price. For a big decorating project, Ms. Slater receives a flat fee, which is a percentage of the total amount spent.
Besides dealing with several clients locally, Ms. Slater designs complete interiors for many model homes, in Fredericksburg and the Richmond area. She has clientele on much of the east coast, from New York to Florida.
This is Ms. Slater’s second career. She has a degree in business and sold insurance securities for over 20 years. During that time she did interior decorating on a parttime basis. Now her hobby has become her full-time business, and she is very happy to be so successful at it and to be living in Rappahannock.

'1940's Radio
Hour' at the Loft
The current Fauquier Community Theatre production, “1940’s Radio Hour” is a one-act musical comedy, set in a New York City radio studio on Dec. 21, 1942. The action of the show takes place immediately prior to, and during the Monday night broadcast of a weekly radio show, the “Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade.”
The players in the production are working class entertainers, with regular day jobs—just ordinary folks with varying degrees of showbusiness ambition, and self-imposed parody.
In additional to some extremely funny situation comedy, the show is loaded with great “big band” era music.
The show will begin at 8 p.m. on Dec. 15, 16 and 17 and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 18. All performances are at the Loft, 9 North 3rd Street.
