Johanna Day is one of the stars in an Off-Broadway play running from now through Dec. 18 at the Circle Repertory Theater in New York City.
Ms. Day is the daughter of Walter Day of Flint Hill and Eileen Day of Sperryville. She was bom in Fauquier County and moved to Rappahannock with her parents and eight older brothers and sisters in 1969, at the age of five.
Ms. Day graduated from RCHS in 1981 and moved to New York City in 1982 to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Art. The late Edward Pawley helped her with her monologues before she auditioned at the Academy. Her mother remembers taking her to New York for that audition, which lasted one and a half hours.
According to her dad, she has been playing small parts since then and has done some modelling. She starred in a TV commercial for Jell-O, and has modelled for the Country Manor catalog.
On Nov. 16, Three Postcards opened Off-Broadway at the Circle Repertory Company. Ms. Day is one of three main characters, playing Big Jane.
