A classical guitar recital by concert guitarist Jad Azkoul comes to The Theatre at Washington at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 10. Azkoul, a musician and teacher of international caliber, will give a pre-concert talk at 7:30 about the classical guitar.
Azkoul performs regularly in Europe, South America and the Middle East, as well as the United States. Reviewing a concert in the nation’s capital last month, Washington Post music critic Joseph McLellan wrote, “Azkoul can make his instrument sing with the fine legato phrasing, the little variations of dynamics and tempo, the occasional expressive accents and hesitations of a human voice. This is a skill far more important than the ability to whip out thousands of notes per minute accurately and expressively, which he also can do.”
