“We make an effort to help ourselves. We are asking you to help us continue to do this,” she added.
One man in the audience said he lives in Prince W’illiam County. He and his wife spent $5,000 of their own money providing a temporary home for Rappahannock’s dogs before they could be adopted, he said.
Ms. Reid invited the supervisors to take a field trip and visit the shelter and go with the volunteers to Fairfax.
Hampton District representative Mike Massie said, “1 don’t want to look like a softie, but 1 think you just found your increase.”
The supervisors also considered requests for increases of $2,000 for the county library and < $605 for the Health Department. They also received a request from the Fauquier Free Clinic for $2,000. That clinic provides medical help to people who do not have insurance. County Administrator John McCarthy said since the
