both the American and Catholic University in Washington, D.C., Azkoul is on an extended leave of absence from his tenured position at the Conservatoire Populaire de Musique in Geneva, Switzerland.
Included in the program for the upcoming concert is music of Heitor Villa-Lobos, J.S. Bach, Bernard Schule, and Cataian folk song arrangements by Miguel Llobet. Also included is music of Isaac Albeniz, about which the recent Washington Post review commented, “[AzkouPs] Albeniz transcriptions are masterly and highly idiomatic, often sounding like a restoration of the guitar of music borrowed from it by the piano.”
