He said he would like to increase the drug ayvareness programs in the schools and to work closely with other agencies of governenment to address the problems. “Working with other agencies is like having additional men,” he said. He added, “I don’t think it will ever stop. There will always be someone somewhere trying to use drugs.”
Sgt. Settle said he is a state certified instructor for the Department of Criminal Justice Services, and he can use that to provide additional training for Sheriffs Office employees himself. He said he is “not familiar” with what training current employees have and that finding that out will be one of his first tasks.
“We all need to continue improving our skills so we can provide the best service possible to the public,” he said.
He said he had always had a good working relationship with members of the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Office and does not anticipate much turnover in the department if he is elected.
“This is a great career opportunity for me, and for the citizens of Rappahannock, if I get in there, I will not let them down.”
