The Rappahannock public schools may end the fiscal year with as much as $ 162,000 to turn over to the county, but the administration and School Board will ask for most of it back.
At last week’s School Board meeting Superintendent David Gangel showed the board a sample letter requesting a reappropriation of $108,500 with a list of things to be funded included. The letter suggests additional funds not requested in the reappropriation be used to establish a roofing fund or hold down the tax rate. The board approved the letter and the list, but Jackson District representative Ron Makela suggested the schools also ask for funding to purchase a snow blower for clearing sidewalks.
