The Democratic party hopes to win as well, using this issue (and related misrepresentation of facts as usual) to portray Republicans as callous, uncaring and mean-spirited with the help of the major “mainstream” media. The media and Democrats have, after all, combined forces effectively in the past year to vilify Republicans with emotional distortions of fact. Do starving children, kicking the elderly out of nursing homes, poisoning the air, polluting the water, etc. ring a bell? These distortions have not only hurt Republicans trying to accomplish the wishes of voters who elected them, but have also allowed Democrats to appease their own special interest groups and continued to pursue their class warfare strategy for reelection.
Clinton, Reich, Gephardt, Daschle and troops have neither scruples nor shame. If they really wanted to help Americans who work, a tax cut would be a step in the right direction. Instead, they would rather score political points on this issue, even though they know it will not really help those for whom they appear to care. These lib
