computer. Some 911 calls from the 937, 547 and.364 exchanges go to Fauquier or Culpeper counties, but are transferred back to Rappahannock.
The map which comes up on the large 911 screen pinpoints the exact location of the caller. The map is an enlargement of the county’s topological maps. It shows buildings, roads,: rivers and ponds. New 911 Coordinator Richie Burke said that knowing where ponds are located in relation to a house is important in case the fire truck needs the pond as a source of water.
As the new 911 coordinator for the county, Richie Burke will have the job of constantly updating the map book and all other 911 information. By next month, new computers which are currently out on bid, should be installed.
