School Improvements
\ The news that the school system has saved enough from the current budget to pay for some long needed changes is indeed wel:ome.
Included in a “wish list” prepared for the Board of Supervisors for using monies scheduled to be turned over to the county’s general fund at the end of the fiscal year are some “must do” items.
An insignificant amount was saved in 1987 when the most recent expansion at the high school was pared down to save money by not air conditioning the new auditorium. Putting air conditioning in now will cost far more than was saved then, but that does not make it less necessary. The room does not have adequate ventilation. In even “warm” weather attending meetings in it is like walking into a steam bath.
The lack of parking lot lights in the student parking lot means that even locating the car following a basketball game is a challenge. This system is obviously a security nightmare.
The high school Student bathrooms are long due for1 a major averhaul.
The “wish list” is far longer than this, but these three items, at least, should get immediate attention.
