The House
Through the courtesy of Bruce and Joy Sloane we were allowed to park on their place which eliminated many steps. We entered Shenandoah Park via the Hull School Trail and made our way the mile or so to the entrance to th$ Bo>ven house site, which sets on the hill across the branch to your right. Here wer explored the remains, taking pictures, sharing stories, and singing that,song about "uncle Nort, being so short, who after a pint of mountain dew became a giant", and finally sitting down for a little snack.
Having just started our day, we still had another 2 1/2 to 3 miles to go. The family cemetery is known by the names of Mary Frazier of Joe Billy Bowen and located high up in Frazier Hollos. We came back down Hull School Trail and took a left had turn across the Thornton River with its intersection with Frazier Hollow road and began the ascent! Reaching the cemetery in good time, but finding that the sun was going behind the mountain, it was getting cooler and darker there in the shadows. We took several pictures and tried to unriddle the relationships of the persons whose names were on the markers. Making our way down again, crossing the Devil's Dancing Ground, passing old familiar sights, we were approaching our automobiles and it was four o'clock!
