Mrs. Kimberley Shafran has been selected as Mrs. Rappahannock International 1997 and will represent Rappahannock at the Mrs. Virginia International Pageant on May 30, 31st and June 1st, 1997 at the Roanoke Civic Center Auditorium.

In 1985 Mrs. International Pageant was founded. Mrs. International has a strong desire to promote married women in a way unaccustomed to pageants. The elimination of swimsuit competition has been replaced by aerobic wear. Husbands are included in the program during the evening goj^n competition and the new 1997 titleholder’s husband will be placing the crowxi on the wife's head at the completion of the show.

The pageant scoring is 50 percent interview, 25 percent aerobic wear and 25 percent evening gown with an on stage question. Each contestant is required to have a platform. Mrs. Shafran's platform is Importance of Early Childhood Development. •

Kimberely Shafran is 38 years old. She resides in Viewtown with her husband, Tom. Mr. and Mrs. Shafran have two children. Mrs. Shafran has a B.A. in Journalism, TV news (1980) from Trinty University in San ••Antonio, Texas.
